DR: “Be Still”
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
I turned on my husband’s laptop and plopped down on the carpeted floor of my prayer closet. I was just in here maybe five minutes ago, but I returned determined to write a message down.
Writer’s block.
There were a few messages that came to mind from before, but the fire/ease I typically feel when writing just wasn’t coming to surface.
“Okay then, God. Should I worship a little bit? Which song would you want to hear from me?” A few songs came to mind, and I struggled to settle on one. Just when I began to question whether I was in the middle of an attack, I heard a small still voice say, “be still.”
“Be still?”
“Be still.”
Then I realized that was the message.
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
I don’t know who needs to be reminded of this right along with me, but sometimes God just wants you to rest in Him. Relax. “He leads us beside still waters” (Psalm 23:2) as He shepherds over us to remind us that He is the one doing all the work while WE do whatever we are instructed to do for peaceful living.
You feel out of control? Like you don’t know what you’re doing?
Good. Now you’re getting it.
You are not in control, and without Him you absolutely do not know what you are doing.
You’re also not working for God; He is working in you to produce the fruit necessary for you to do good works in Him.
Still not sure what to do? Reading His Word is never a bad answer.
It’s okay.
Even when you don’t see it, He’s working. Even when you don’t feel it, He’s working. (Ah, now that’s the song He wants to hear from us.)
Rest and release control. The God who created all things has the power to make you into exactly who He desires for you to be and whom He has called you to be in one second.
If He hasn’t done this, that means your process is all on purpose…for your purpose.
Your Father is working. Everything is going to be more than well with you and in you.
I love you.
Keep me in your prayers as I keep you in mine.
And remember,
Do everything in Christ Jesus’ Name with Love.
